Types of Arthritis - August 31st, 2009

My mother has finally began to suffer from arthritis and it’s incredibly hard to see her walk in so much pain…my mom the former athlete. Lean and incredibly health conscious. I guess there are some things humans can’t fight and everyone knows for sure that TIME is indeed one of them. Arthritis can occur in many places in the body (over 100 different places!!!) and one of the most common forms of arthritis is the osteoarthritis, also called degenerative joint disease. This is when a person has in his/her lifetime put excess amount of stress/trauma/force (whatever you may call it) to the joint.

It includes the wearing of the joint as well an infection that is eating away at the joints. It is normally more natural with age, but isn’t always due to it. There are also other types of arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriatic arthritis.  Septic arthritis is the arthritis that is the result of an infection in the joint. There are many more information to be said if we were to go on about the types of arthritis and where we can find it as well as what causes it, let us now look at the treatment to these symptoms.

Of course treatment methods will vary relating to the type and severity of the arthritis, but the most common ways of treating them are known to be; therapy, dramatic changes in lifestyle, braces, medications such as dietary supplements and ointments or even surgery (called arthroplasty where the bad joint is replaced.)
